Bringing ideas to life for gardens and outdoor spaces
A well-designed and planned garden is something that many people are looking for, and the Perth Garden Show delivers a selection of gardens that inspire. Gardens that are designed to fit a certain space or a certain climate, gardens with plants that work well together, gardens that suit small blocks or larger areas – and most importantly, gardens with a waterwise focus.
The new look Water Corporation Garden Design Zone is a central resource and inspiration space for landscape designers, contractors, and installers. It aims to connect the design community with suppliers, products, and plants—encouraging collaboration and showcasing innovation in garden and landscape design.
The Water Corporation Garden Design Zone is divided into five main areas, and is presented by the Landscape Design Institute and the Landscape Industries Association WA.
Water Corporation Display Area
For more than 20 years, Water Corporation has partnered with Greenlife Industry Western Australia to support waterwise gardening across the state. We’re glad to be working together again at this year’s Perth Garden Show. Don’t forget to come by the Water Corporation Garden Design Zone and say hi when you visit!
As a gardener, your actions make a big difference. Nearly 36 per cent of household water use happens outdoors and watering just one extra day a week can waste 87 buckets of water – that’s 348 buckets a month. WA, we’re wasting bucketloads.
Top waterwise tips for your garden:
- Stick to your rostered watering days and only water once, before 9am or after 6pm. Watering outside your days wastes bucketloads.
- Switch off sprinklers when it rains.
- Protect your soil with mulch. It’s sunscreen for your garden.
- Choose waterwise plants and group plants with similar watering needs.
- Ask a Waterwise Specialist to help find and fix leaks, even a small leak can add up to bucketloads over time.
Pocket Gardens and Garden Design Awards
Pocket Gardens designed in a 2.4m x 2.4m space. Built by students or landscape industry professionals who would like to submit their design and build it as part of the competition. There will be seven Pocket Gardens at this year’s Perth Garden Show which will be judged and winners awarded.
Achievable Garden Displays
Get inspired with the Achievable Garden Display at the Perth Garden Show! There will be several 5 metre x 5 metre display gardens built within the Water Corporation Garden Design Zone, which will include:
- 2 x Waterwise Gardens designed and built by Tim Davies Landscaping
- Grasstrees Australia’s waterwise bush garden
- A Rooftop Garden designed and built by Urban Green Solutions
- Plus more to be announced.
Achievable Gardens are a simplistic approach to garden design and serve to show to audiences that they too can create these gardens at their own homes with minimal effort.
Landscape Design Presentation Area
A small stage area will be set up within the Water Corporation Garden Design Zone and will be utilised by landscapers or garden designers to present their work via photos and videos. The presentations will surround garden “case studies” and information on how they created the gardens. The stage area will also be used for the announcement of LIAWA awards.
Special Guest Speaker Charlie Albone from Better Homes and Gardens will be at the Show on Saturday 18th April and will present on stage.
